A self-styled militant commander of Hizbul Mujahideen was arrested from Regal Chowk in Srinagar, police said today.
"Hizbul Mujahideen militant Parvaiz Ahmad War has been arrested by police from Regal Chowk Srinagar. He was functioning as a commander of the outfit," a police spokesperson said.
War is a resident of Sopore in north Kashmir's Baramulla district, the spokesperson said.
Police have recovered one pistol, one magazine and four rounds from him.
War had crossed the Line-of-Control (LoC) in 2000 for arms training, the spokesman said, adding, on his return, he was active in Sopore and Bandipora areas of north Kashmir.
