Swine Flu hasn’t deterred Amdavadis plans to enjoy the mini vacation from August 14 to 16 at weekend destinations like Mt Abu and Diu and Daman. Hotels in such destinations have registered 100% bookings till Sunday.
“It is not every month that two festivals and a weekend would come back to back. Hence, I plan to enjoy this mini-vacation. The threat of swine flu is there but we are as much at risk in Ahmedabad as anywhere else. So I did rather go on a vacation,” said Vipul Shah, a banker.
“Almost all the hotels have been booked here. The booking in Mt Abu began from Thursday morning. Those who did not bother to book a room in advance will have a difficult time,” said manager at Hotel Hilton, Abu. “Till date not a single case of swine flu has been reporter here. Tourists can come and enjoy without any fear,” the manager said. Radhika Beach Resort, one of the popular places to stay in Diu has forty rooms all off which have been booked.
“So far swine flu has not reached Diu and so people are eager to visit the place in large numbers. All rooms in our hotel have been completely booked from August 13 to August 16,” said a spokesperson for Radhika Beach Resort.
“Without advance booking, those planning to visit Diu will not be able to get a place to stay,” said the spokesperson.
All the hotels including two of the best ones, Miramar and Cidade in Daman too have a similar story to tell.
“We received advance bookings some three weeks ago. And so far none of the bookings have been cancelled. Daman has not got any cases of swine flue,” said the booking manager at Cidade Daman.
