The Indian Railways' Hamsafar train split into two parts while it was travelling from Delhi to Katihar.
The accident happened between Chandari and Chakeri area of Kanpur.
The coupling of an AC-3 coach situated on the fourth position from the engine was broken leading to the incident.
The passengers were panic-stricken after the incident.
The train was brought to the Prayagraj Junction at around 7 pm.
Soon after the train arrived at Prayagraj junction, ADRM and senior DME reached the station to look into the matter.
The defect was solved and the train later departed for Katihar.
