Moderate faction of Hurriyat Conference decided to hold consultations with a cross section of the society before its leadership embarks on a proposed visit to Pakistan later this year.
"To make the Pakistan visit meaningful and result oriented, discussions will be held with people from different walks of life including intellectuals, lawyers and civil society," a Hurriyat spokesman said after a meeting of the Executive Council of the amalgam.
He said the Hurriyat leadership decided not only to present the viewpoint of the people of the state on Kashmir issue and its resolution during the interactions with Pakistan leadership but also put forth the wishes and aspirations of the people.
The spokesperson said the meeting discussed the improving relations between New Delhi and Islamabad and expressed hope that the Pakistan tour by the separatist leaders will lead to positive developments with regard to Kashmir issue.
Pakistan has invited top brass of separatist leaders for interaction in December.
