I am impressed with Narendra Modi's economic policies says Bill Clinton
Former United States President Bill Clinton who spoke to NDTV on Wednesday said that he was impressed with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's economic policies and believed in the concept of inclusive society.
Bill Clinton, who is a popular figure and Ex-President from United States spoke about following Narendra Modi's career since his Gujarat days. In an interview to NDTV, Bill Clinton also said, "Leave Gujarat sectarian violence in the past."
"I was impressed with Modi's economic policies," Clinton said in an interview to NDTV. Talking about economic and social policies in India, Clinton added, "India has been able to preserve a more inclusive democracy even in poorer places."
He said that everybody thinks Modi has potential to make a difference in political and economic scenario.
Clinton added that Modi's decision to invite Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to his swearing-in ceremony may have also been a signal to Muslims in India as well that he wants to govern for all. This came on backdrop of Modi's first scheduled meeting with Barack Obama after Modi's estraged relationship with the states came to an end with Obama taking initiatives to set the communication rolling to strengthen ties between both the countries.
Clinton spoke about the visa controversy that put a break on Modi receiving visa to visit USA and international outrage over Gujarat riots. He said that those incidents belonged to the past after Lok Sabha elections that saw Modi take centerstage with thumping majority at the centre.
He eventually also spoke about the middle-east crisis and war between Israel and Palestine that has claimed many lives. "Hamas has strategy to force Israel to kill their own civilians. Israel PM should make comprehensive peace pact with Palestine and serious peace-talks needed to de-escalate Mideast crisis and Israel partly responsible for not moving fast on Mid-east peace," he concluded.
