"I am not helpless," Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said today to dispel the perception that Congress president Sonia Gandhi was the real power and that he was helpless.
At an interaction with a group of editors here, he was asked about the perception that Gandhi "decided everything"and "you are helpless".
The Prime Minister responded with a chuckle to say, "I am not helpless. All the bad things that this government has done, I accept full responsibility."
Speaking warmly about his equation with Gandhi, Singh said that he has had maximum cooperation from her.
"I have never felt that she is an obstacle to things we want to do," he said.
Pointing out that the two of them meet one on one every week, Singh said that Gandhi had done a superb job as the party president for about 15 years.
Being Congress president was an enormous responsibility and she had to deal with issues to which there are no easy solutions, he said.
