Ex-MLA and the Indore-3 Bharatiya Janata Party candidate Usha Thakur stands out among other politicians.
Unlike politicians, who like to roam around in swanky SUVs, Thakur uses a bike to travel across the city on routine days.
Thakur though prefers undertaking daily activities while riding a bike but she does not own one. Either she takes along her family member's bike or borrows one from party workers, said party functionary Nilesh Agrawal.
Besides, a dagger hanging by her waist also makes her appearance unique.
The dagger was presented to Thakur by the family of legendary freedom fighter Bhagat Singh. Thakur said, "I feel extraordinary strength as I keep the dagger with me."
Known for down-to-earth image among locals from Indore-1 constituency where she resides in Sangam Vihar based residence and other areas, Thakur had embraced nationalistic and social welfare approach since her early days.
She had served as a student head from 1986 to 1997 at Nutan Girls' College and later on, she got elected as the corporator.
Besides her socio-political endeavours, Thakur is the convener of Samagra Kranti Chetna Manch. Explaining her election agenda, talking to dna she said that making every woman self-reliant and strong, is her dream.
"I am not making any deal with the voters, I am seeking blessings from voters including females and I am promising to serve in return," said Thakur said.
Forging personalised relations with party workers and public, Thakur fondly addressed as didi sits in voters' houses, hugs females and keeps all sweets offered by them, only for distributing later among party workers.
