If my leader wants me to resign, I will, Trivedi said.

Railway Minster Dinesh Trivedi said in an interview with NDTV that he didn't consult with his party - the Trinamool Congress - on the rail fare hike that he produced today.

Trivedi said he didn't "have a clue" over his party's reaction to his budget.

"I have done what's good for railways, and for the country,"  Trivedi said.

"For me, country comes first, and family comes next," He added.

If my leader wants me to resign, I will, Trivedi said amidst Mamata Banerjee's call for a roll-back.

Trivedi equated a roll-back with a compromise on security, which he considered to be of utmost importance.
