The victim who was raped by Asaram Bapu’s son Narayan Sai on Wednesday said she would want the severest form of punishment for the latter.

“I am extremely happy today. Finally, I will be able to eat with peace, as I was not able to sleep for nights since the time I filed an F.I.R against him. He has spoilt the lives of many girls. If this would not have come forth, he would have spoilt the lives of many more. It is a very important day,” said the victim.

“I would like to thank Surat Police, the Delhi Police and, the police of the other states as well as my lawyer and the media for their support,” she added.

Furthermore, she said it was up to the court to decide what has to be done with him, but she wanted the severest form of punishment for Narayan Sai. “I wish he gets the severest form of punishment. The minds of the people who still follow him are like that of a terrorist. Their motto is to do or die. They consider him to be A god. They can do anything for him anytime. Both father and son are the same, but the son is even a step ahead of him,” she said.

On being questioned as to why she had not filed a complaint earlier she said it would have been pointless as the police would not have filed an FIR. “The police would not have filed an FIR if we had complained against him while we were residing at the ashram, as he had a lot of influence back then. No one would have gone against him. But today there is more awareness and people have been coming forward to speak up,” she added.

Narayan Sai was arrested by a joint team in Pipli, Haryana on Wednesday. According to television reports, Sai had been on the run for the past 58 days. Surat police had registered two complaints - one against Asaram and the other against his son Sai of rape, sexual assault and illegal confinement as alleged by two sisters on October 6.

Earlier on November 11, a local court declared Sai a proclaimed absconder under section 82 of CrPC, and asked him to appear before investigating officer or court within 30 days from the day of declaration of "proclamation for person absconding".

The elder of the two sisters has accused Asaram of sexually assaulting her between 1997 and 2006 at his ashram, while the younger sister has filed a complaint against Sai, accusing him of repeated sexual assaults between 2002 and 2005 at the Surat ashram.

Asaram, 72, was arrested on September 1 on allegations of sexual assault on a minor at his ashram in Jodhpur.
