An Indian Air Force (IAF) Hawk Advanced trainer jet (AJT) crashed seconds after taking off from the Kalaikunda base in West Bengal on Thursday. IAF officials here said the aircraft crashed inside the boundary wall of the base at around 11 am. Both the pilots ejected and are safe, officials said. "Today at around 1100h a Hawk trainer aircraft from Kalaikunda developed snag after takeoff resulting in safe ejection of both pilots. A Court of Inquiry has been ordered," IAF spokesperson Wing Commander Anupam Banerjee said here.
