IIM-Ahmedabad ranked best B-school again
The Indian Institute of Management-Ahmedabad has been ranked the best business school in a survey conducted by DNA and Indus Learning.
The Indian Institute of Management-Ahmedabad has been ranked the best business school in a survey conducted by DNA and Indus Learning. Thirty institutes were chosen on the basis of top-of-the-mind memory and unaided recall among 300 people (75 respondents each being potential students, faculty, alumni and HR managers) across six cities — Mumbai, Delhi NCR, Chennai, Pune, Bangalore and Chandigarh. There was also a perception survey conducted on the institutes among 400 respondents.
The IIMs topped the list in overall ranking with the top three slots bagged by Ahmedabad, Bangalore and Kolkata. “These institutes started management education in India and have lived up to it. I am not surprised with the rankings and consider it to be a fair judgement,” Swati Salunkhe, managing director of Growth Centre, a Mumbai-based career counselling firm, said. “The institutes have a strong academic curriculum, faculty, students and alumni base. They not only have the right regulatory bodies, but also a well-defined system which sets them apart from the rest.”
The institutes were evaluated on parameters, including course curriculum, faculty, international exposure, image and reputation, placement, industry interaction, infrastructure and networking potential.
IIM-Ahmedabad, IIM-Bangalore and the Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies (JBIMS) grabbed the top three slots in curriculum with scores of 80.21, 77.22 and 74.27, respectively.
In the faculty assessment, the top three institutes were IIM-Ahmedabad, IIM-Bangalore and IIM-Kolkata with scores of 81.92, 77.95 and 76.53, respectively.
JBIMS - Mumbai, Faculty of Management Studies - Delhi, XLRI-Jamshedpur, Management Development Institute - Gurgaon, and the Indian Institute of Planning and Management made up the rest of the top 10.
Though city institutes like the SP Jain Institute of Management Studies & Research and Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies are perceived as good B-schools, other colleges like the Welingkar Institute of Management and MET Institute of Management got average ratings. Institutes like the Loyola Institute of Business Administration -Chennai, KIIT-Bhubaneshwar and the Institute of Technology & Management - Gurgaon are rated as well in some categories and average in the others.
