IIT Jodhupur students have started a strike which shows no sign of ending even on day three. Students have gone on strike to protest the suspension of Dr Ganesh Bagler. They are demanding resignation of Director of institute Dr CVR Murthy who suspended Dr Bagler.
Students claim that the director has wrongfully suspended other professors before. According to sources, there are 90 teaching posts out of which only 45 are currently filled. This affects their studies. Also other professors do not want to come to Jodhpur fearing wrongful terminations.
Earlier these students had protested in front of residence of Dr CVR Murthy. They are demanding that Dr Bagler be called back and Dr CVR Murthy be stripped of his post. They also want this decision making process to be transparent.
Students are also using social media to bring attention to the strike with #DictatorFreeIITJ.
Students are blaming that government has not paid any attention to the strike. If nobody comes to talk to them in next 48 hours they will further the strike.
