On Wednesday, Vijayvargiya was refused a bail hearing from the sessions court in Indore saying it had no jurisdiction.

Judge BK Dwivedi said the sessions court was not empowered to hear the plea as the case falls under the jurisdiction of a special fast track court set up in Bhopal to hear cases against public representatives.

The special court on Saturday heard his plea and granted him bail.

Akash, son of BJP general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya, assaulted municipal officer Dhirendra Singh Bias with a cricket bat in full public view Wednesday while opposing demolition of a dilapidated house.

A video of the assault went viral on social media, after which police filed an FIR against Akash and arrested him.

The incident took place when the 34-year-old MLA from the Indore III seat was opposing demolition of the dilapidated house.

Justifying his action, Akash had said, "In the BJP, we have been taught, pehle aavedan, phir nivedan aur phir danadan. (first request and then attack)."

He was arrested and a judicial magistrate court refused him bail Wednesday evening and sent him to judicial custody till July 7.

The officer, Dhirendra Singh Bais (46), was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of a private hospital in Indore. Bais was admitted to the ICU of a private hospital in the Palasia area late Thursday night for treatment of high blood pressure, said the doctor of the medical facility.

Meanwhile, Indore Municipal Corporation pulled down posters praising Vijayvargiya on Friday. The "salute Akashji" posters had sprung up in several parts of Indore, including MG Road, RNT Road and Rajwada, an official said.

He said posters put up without requisite permissions are routinely taken down.
