Congress candidate from Rau, Jeetu Patwari, challenged his BJP counterpart and sitting MLA Jeetu Jirati by claiming that he had backstabbed the people of the constituency and gave him minus hundred out of hundred marks for development initiatives. The Rau poll candidates locked horns during the debate organised by the Indore Press Club on Sunday.Patwari led the onslaught by asking Jirati to highlight 'just one' work he did for the people of the constituency.Jirati countered by claiming that there was a wave of BJP and he was sad that Patwari will not be able to win the elections."I can't be expected as a legislator to be a nodal agency (for works). I have ensured that the government's development schemes are implemented in my constituency," Jirati said.Patwari also accused him of spreading terror and indulging in goonism, an allegation Jirati thoroughly refuted. The Congress candidate gave instances of the legislator's outburst including the confrontation he had with Rajendra Nagar CSP Dilip Singh Tomar two years ago and how his men locked and beat up IDA officials three months ago over construction of a bridge."The first thing Jirati did after winning last elections was to take out a rally and cause huge traffic jam in the city," Patwari said. Jirati retaliated by saying, "He attended the rally as a mark of respect for his supporters."Jirati was also accused of claiming works done by corporators as his. The legislator claimed, "I represent the entire constituency and have the right to attend foundation laying ceremonies of development works in it."The BJP candidate rubbished the marks given to him by Patwari claiming that he did not need a certificate from Patwari. "People will decide and the outcome will be evident on December 8," he said.Patwari’s allegations1.    The MLA has not visited majority areas of his constituency in five years. 90% area left untouched2.    The legislator has been sheltering goons, indulging in public display of power. He had got transferred a CSP for refusing to release an illicit liquor trader3.    The legislator got everything in a platter as lady luck helped him. He has lost his chance and is bound to lose.4.    The MLA can’t name a single work he has done in the constituency5.    The legislator takes credit of works done by corporators and barges into their functions to do so.Jirati’s reactions1.    I don’t have to give an explanation to Patwari. I have maintained a direct contact with people.2.    I fight for the innocent people and will continue to do so. The CSP was trying to slap fake charges against the man. The transfer was routine.3.    I have worked for the people. The people will decide who is going to the assembly.4.    I can’t be considered a nodal agency. I have got government’s schemes implemented.5.    I represent the entire constituency and have a right to participate in the development works.
