Realising the need to sensitise students on Jan Lokpal Bill, and Anna Hazare's crusade during an interaction, students decided to take out a candlelight march on the campus.

Like other premier institutes in Gujarat, students of Institute of Rural Management, Anand (IRMA) also extended their support to anti-corruption crusader Anna Hazare by taking out a candlelight march inside the IRMA campus and more than 60 students observing a day-long fast to show their solidarity with Anna.

Realising the need to sensitise students on Jan Lokpal Bill, and Anna Hazare's crusade during an interaction, students decided to take out a candlelight march on the campus.

IRMA student, Shekhar R said students of the institute are divided in three segments on the basis of their views: Some support government's Lokpal Bill, while others support Anna Hazare's bill while there is a third faction which believes that none of this will work.

"We thought it is important to know each others' point of view and understand what would work best for the country. And to sensitise students, we organised a candlelight march within the campus. Also around 60 students who support Anna Hazare and his bill observed a day-long fast to support him," Shekhar said.

Amresh Sinha, a student of post-graduate diploma in Rural Management at IRMA, however, feels that this is just the beginning.

"We are planning to take up a signature campaign across Anand. We intend to write 10,000 letters addressed to Prime Minister's office if the government Lokpal Bill is not withdrawn," he says.
