During the candlelight protest near Sanjiv Bhatt's house on Wednesday evening, the atmosphere became tense when the IPS officer's family members caught a state intelligence officer 'spying'.
Bhatt's wife, Shweta, said the man couldn't give any satisfactory answers when she confronted him. Later, on-duty policemen stepped in and took him into custody.
When questioned by the police, the man revealed that he was from the state Intelligence Bureau (IB) and that he was dropped here by his senior officer to find out what was going on. His ID card identified him as KB Devda, assistant intelligence officer, CID-Intelligence, Gujarat state.
Once his identity was revealed, the situation became worse with Shweta alleging that the state IB was spying on their home. She told the officer that it was totally immoral for a policeman to spy on another policeman's house.
Devda argued that he had come to the place to meet many of his friends in the media and that he was doing his duty. However, his explanation didn't satisfy Bhatt's family who took him into their house and held him there till the local police inspector arrived and sorted out the matter.
