In a shocking incident, a 32-year-old BJP worker was found hanging from by a pole in Dabha village of Purulia's Balarampur. West Bengal BJP twitter handle has posted a video, alleging that TMC is behind this heinous crime. It has alleged that TMC has murdered Dulal Kumar to make Purulia district BJP free. This is the second BJP worker found dead hanging in Purulia. Earlier in the week, young BJP activist Trilochon Mahato was found hanging from a tree. It prompted strong reaction from BJP President Amit Shah who condemned the incident and blamed state government for inaction. TMC on its part has denied all allegations in this regard. Senior BJP leader Rahul Sinha has asked for CBI probe into these deaths.

While Mamata Banerjee hasn’t spoken or tweeted about the incident, instead focussing on ‘remembering’ the late Raj Kapoor on his death anniversary, Rajya Sabha MP Derek O Brien tweeted saying it was a ‘despicable killing’. He wrote on Twitter: “We strongly condemn this despicable killing. All angles must be probed. The perpetrators of this heinous act must be punished. What role did Jharkhand border have to play? What elements of Bajrang Dal, Maoist or BJP involved. Let the truth be found out through proper investigation.”

Other Twitter users however were quite angry and demanded some answers from Mamata Banerjee over the law-and-order scenario:

TMC Rajya Sabha MP Derek O'Brien tweeted

Abhishek Banerjee, who heads TMC’s youth wing, during a rally held in the city last Tuesday had vowed to turn Purulia into an "opposition-free district". Banerjee had said that he would visit the region along with party secretary-general Partha Chatterjee for the purpose.  In the Balarampur block where Trilochan's village is located, BJP won majority in seven gram panchayats and the panchayat samiti, snatching them from Trinamool. The BJP state president also hit out at the state police and alleged that they were "working" for the TMC resulting in the common people losing their faith in police.
