New Delhi: Health minister Anbumani Ramadoss said state governments have to bring out a separate notification announcing details of the ban and the enforcing agencies or officers authorised to challan offenders. They have to set up flying squads to monitor and impose fines on violators. States have the option to use the fines for tobacco control activities or deposit in the treasury. “Gujarat, for instance, will use the fines for tobacco control while Delhi will deposit them in the government treasury,” said the health minister.
