“The Congress is doing all this (the CBI raids) as part of its plan to harass me and my family since I have dared the Congress leadership and Sonia Gandhi. The raids are part of the political conspiracy following the unprecedented support to me and my family,” Jagan said at a meeting in Krishna district.

Jagan still commands the support of about 25 Congress MLAs in the state who are also furious over the way the CBI was asked to probe the amassing of wealth by the son of former chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy.

Jagan is also accusing a tacit agreement between the Congress leadership and TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu.

About 14 Congress MLAs met in Hyderabad on Friday to discuss the future strategy and according to a Congress leader, Jagan’s followers were planning to take out a bus tour to districts in Andhra Pradesh to explain the ‘witch hunting’.

Sources said the Central Forensic Sciences Laboratory has also been roped in to verify the documents and computer hard discs seized over the last two days.

Premises of various top business entities, including Aurobindo Pharma, Nimmagadda Prasad Foundation, Hetero Drugs and Penna Cements, were searched on Friday.
