Two CRPF soldiers were killed and another injured when their vehicle turned turtle after they came under attack from a large mob of stone throwers at Hillar village of Kokernag in south Kashmir’s district of Anantnag.
The incident occurred at 6.50 pm on Wednesday when the CRPF vehicle was passing through Hillar area after performing the day-long law and order duties. A large mob of stone-throwers attacked the CRPF vehicle from all sides and with the result, the driver lost control and it turned turtle. Two soldiers were killed and another injured in the incident
The slain were identified as head constable Nisar Ahmad and Constable Reyaz Ahmad of 164th battalion of CRPF. “CRPF vehicle pelted upon at Hillar, Kokernag with the result driver lost control and met with an accident. Two CRPF personnel died on spot and injuries to others. Officers are on the spot”, tweeted Anantnag police.
Rakesh Yadav, CRPF spokesman at Srinagar, said there was some stone pelting on the vehicle of 164th battlaion CRPF and it turned turtle after driver lost control.
“Two of our personnel were martyred and another suffered sound. We are trying to get further details from the ground”, said Yadav.
The injured has been evacuated to the hospital for treatment. Security forces have rushed in reinforcements to the area to identify the stone pelters responsible for the incident. Police have also registered a case and hunt has been launched to nab the miscreants involved in the attack.
Anantnag SSP Altaf Khan said that the stone-pelters attacked the CRPF vehicle as well as a bike-borne jawans. ‘A stone pierced through the iron grill and hit the driver, who lost control and turned turtle. It also hit the motorcycle,’ he told DNA.
