Laying stress on spreading awareness, Jammu and Kashmir Minister for Higher Education Mohammad Akbar Lone today said students could play a pivotal role in educating people about energy conservation.
"Students are a resource who can play a pivotal role in educating people about the conservation of energy," Lone said at a function to observe Energy Conservation Week here today.
The minister said, "It is our primary duty to save water bodies, forests and other resources required for generation of power." Water bodies are shrinking day by day so conservation of the water bodies in the state is essential to save energy, he added.
Lone said such events would provide a platform to exchange of ideas between students' community and experts about the benefits of energy conservation. He said efficient use of energy has become imperative in view of the energy crises across the world.
