The supreme Shariat court led by grand mufti of Kashmir Bashid-ud-din has indicted pastor Reverend CM Khanna and Father Jim Borst of converting Muslim youth into Christianity allegedly through “baits and inducements”.
“Rev Khanna, his wife, his associate Gayoor Masih, Father Brost and Chandrakanta have been found guilty of misleading and converting Muslim boys and girls into Christianity through baits and inducements. Their activities have hurt the sentiments of entire Muslim community,” said mufti Nasir-ul-Islam, deputy grand mufti of Kashmir.
He warned of serious consequences if such elements are encouraged to continue their activities. Mufti Nasir said the decision about the future of the “guilty” will be decided in couple of days.
The Shariat court of Mufti has not been created by any Act of legislature and it is a self-established court, which lacks legal sanctity.
The Jammu and Kashmir police had arrested Rev Khanna on November 19, 2011 on charges of spreading discord and creating enmity between two religions. The arrest had come three days after Rev Khanna of All Saints Church appeared before the supreme court of Shairait. He was later bailed out by the court and soon after he left the Valley.
