A total of eight security personnel - four policemen and four Central Police Reserve Force (CRPF) jawans - have lost their lives in the ongoing encounter between the security forces and fidayan terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama district on Saturday.
The operation is still underway.
Meanwhile, another terrorist has been neutralised in the ongoing encounter.
Jammu and Kashmir DGP S. P Vaid informed the media that the security forces of Army, CRPF and the state police Special Operations Group are trying to clear and evacuate everybody from those blocks, and in the process, have suffered some casualties, but added that the terrorists have been eliminated.
A CRPF spokesperson has informed that some members of the security forces were injured in the operation.
As for the evacuation operation, Vaid said that it is in the last lap and will be cleared of terrorists, who are at least three in number.
He also refuted the possibility of a security lapse that could be responsible for the infiltration, explaining that "You can't prevent if somebody is ready to die."
The encounter in E block is still underway.
