Counting of votes is underway in the Jamnagar North constituency, which has emerged as one of the most watched ones in the Gujarat Assembly Elections 2022. As per the early voting trends, BJP has a lead on 42 seats while the Congress leads on 11 seats and AAP on two. In Jamnagar North, AAP's Karsanbhai Kamrur has taken an early lead over BJP's Rivaba Jadeja and Congress' Bipendrasinh Jadeja.
The voting for Jamnagar seats was held on December 1. The city recorded a lower (58.42%) voter turnout compared to the overall turnout in the phase 1 of the Gujarat polls 2022 at 63.3%. While the Jamnagar North seat is the big one in the city, the Jamnagar South seat is a contest that has also grabbed headlines in recent days.
Jamnagar North candidates
The BJP has fielded a star candidate in the face of star Indian cricketer Ravindra Jadeja’s wife Rivaba Jadeja. On the other side is Bipendrasinh Chatursinh Jadeja of the Congress. Karsanbhai Karmur of AAP is the third major candidate. The Bahujan Samaj Party has fielded Jagdish Manshibhai Gadhavi. There are also seven independent candidates contesting from the seat.

Jamnagar North LIVE counting updates
11:00 am: Rivaba Jadeja (26144) heading towards a big victory, leads by 16,840 votes against AAP's Karsanbhai Kamrur (9284). Congress Bipendrasinh Jadeja third with 7777 votes.
10:20 am: BJP's Rivaba Jadeja has bounced back after trailing early. Cricketer Ravindra Jadeja's wife now leads with 8671 votes against AAP's Karsanbhai Kamrur (5928) and Congress' Bipendrasinh Jadeja (4218).
9:50 am: Rivaba Jadeja trails. AAP's Karsanbhai Kamrur is leading with 4582 votes against Congress' Bipendrasinh Jadeja (2976 votes) and BJP's Rivaba Jadeja (2431 votes), as per latest EC update.
Jamnagar South key candidates
The BJP has fielded Divyesh Ranchhodbhai Akbari and the Congress candidate is Manoj Kathiria. The AAP candidate Vishal Tyagi has been in the news after he was detained by Gujarat ATS just days before the result and later ordered to be released by Jamnagar court. The BSP has fielded Makuben Kishorbhai Rathod (Meenaben) while Bharatiya National Janata Dal (BNJD) has fielded Kamleshkumar Jentilal Hirpara. Gujarat Nav Nirman Sena has fielded Gohel Mukesh Vajubhai. There are also 8 other independent candidates.
Gujarat Assembly Elections: Jamnagar North and South past results
In 2017, the Jamnagar North seat was won by the BJP candidate Dharmendrasinh Jadeja (Hakubha). He beat Congress candidate Ahir Jivanbhai Karubhai Kumbharvadiya by over 40,000 votes. Rivaba Jadeja will hope to continue BJP’s winning streak on the seat. The Jamnagar South seat was also won by BJP with its candidate Ranchhodbhai Chanabhai Faldu winning by more than 16,000 votes.
