He was to report to his duties in Ladakh. Vasawa along with 30 others from his battalion boarded the Swaraj Express train from Mumbai on Monday morning.
When the train reached Pardi, Vasawa who was standing at the door lost control and fell down from the moving train. Vasawa's friends pulled the emergency break and stopped the train. His right leg had got separated from his knee, while his left leg was severely damaged.
He was taken to government hospital at Valsad, but as his injury was serious, doctors referred him to New Civil hospital.
"Vasawa was trying to board the moving train when the mishap took place. As there was no emergency available at that moment, he was brought to Valsad in the same train. Though it is an accident, we are investigating into the matter," AM Deewan, PSI of railway police in Valsad, said.
