Jharkhand chief minister, Arjun Munda today expressed apprehension that the frequent suspension of movement of trains during night might hit the forthcoming 34th national games to be hosted by the state from February 12 to 26.
"The work to meet the deadline is going on war-footing and we are monitoring day to day progress as the Jharkhand government is committed to conduct the games in a grand manner," Munda told a press conference Jamshedpur.
However, the major setback to the games would be frequent suspension of movement of trains during night as sportspersons, officials and guests would be reaching Jamshedpur, one of the venues of the games, by trains, he said.
Demanding immediate resumption of night services of trains, Munda said the issue would be taken up with the railway ministry.
Munda assured that the Jharkhand government would provide adequate security to ensure uninterrupted movement of trains during nights.
"We had written leters to the railway ministry to resume night movement of trains and will write again," he said.
Night services are on halt since the disaster of the Jnaneshwari Express near Jhargram by suspected Maoists on May 28 last.
