The Jammu and Kashmir police have announced a bounty on the heads of three Hizbul Mujhadeen militants for the abduction and killing of 22-year-old army officer Lieutenant Ummer Fayaz.
Ishfaq Ahmad Thoker, Mohammad Abass Bhat and Gayas ul Islam were part of the Hizbul group that carried out the act on Tuesday evening.
Police have also pasted posters of the men in Shopian with their pictures superimposed on them, urging locals to share information about the trio to ensure they are brought to justice.
"The criminals are involved in acts of terrorism, including the murder of Lt Ummer Fayaz. Any person providing information regarding the above mentioned criminals will be suitably rewarded and his identify will be kept a secret," read the posters in English.
"We have assured a suitable award for whoever comes forth with information pertaining to the three Hizbul Mujhadeen militants. Depending on the quality of information, the individual will suitably rewarded. The cash reward amount will depend on the information we receive," said Ambarkar Shriram Dinkar, Superintendent of Police, Shopian.
