J&K Gujjars demand separate channel on Doordarshan

Speakers of Gojri language feel totally ignored and overlooked by the policy makers of India's largest public broadcaster Prasar Bharti.

Expressing resentment over alleged non-representation of their mother tongue on Doordarshan, the Gujjars and Bakerwals of Jammu and Kashmir today demanded a separate channel on the network called 'DD Gojri'.

The demand was made by the communities in a communication sent to the Union Information and Broadcasting Ministry through the Tribal Research and Cultural Foundation, its secretary Javaid Rabi told reporters in Jammu today.

Speakers of Gojri language feel totally ignored and overlooked by the policy makers of India's largest public broadcaster Prasar Bharti, Rabi said quoting the communication sent to the Union government in this regard.
