J&K: Weather improves in Kashmir after 3 days, day temperature increases while night temp continues to dip

The official further said that the forecast is likely to be dry weather over the plains of J&K and Ladakh till December 2.

A met official on Saturday said that all upper reaches including Gulmarg and other hill stations like Pahalgam, Sonamarg in north, south, and central Kashmir respectively, recorded temperatures below zero during the night. 

However, day temperature in most places recorded minimum temperatures above the normal for this time of the year.

A meteorological department official said, “ temperatures settled at 2.0 degrees Celsius at Srinagar which is 0.1 degree above the normal."  

As per the statement of the meteorology department, Qazigund recorded 2.0 degrees Celsius, Pahalgam recorded minus 0.7 Degree Celsius, 0.2 degrees in Kupwara, 1.1 degrees in Kokernag, and Gulmarg recorded minus 3.5 degrees.. 

The official further said that the forecast is likely to be dry weather over the plains of J&K and Ladakh till December 2. In higher reaches of Jammu & Kashmir, isolated light rain /snow is expected in the next 24 hours. 

For the third continuous day, Kashmir witnessed snowfall in the upper reaches of the Valley. The Srinagar-Jammu national highway is partially open but people have been advised to avoid travel. Even the Srinagar-Leh road and Mughal road is closed for traffic. 

The road clearance work on highways and remote areas is underway. The government has also issued an avalanche warning in north Kashmir.

There has been a sharp decrease in temperature across Valley and Ladakh remained 5 degree below normal. The Met department has predicted improvement in weather from Wednesday night.
