RJD leader said that this is the third consecutive bypoll the party has won. He said that all sections of the society voted for the party and hence they managed to win, even though those are not their traditionally strong seats. Tejashwi Yadav said that despite investigative agencies trying to rattle Lalu Yadav and other leaders, RJD didn't lose hope and fought the election valiantly to ensure victory. Tejashwi hailed opposition unity and mentioned SP, RLD win in Uttar Pradesh by-elections. Tejashwi said, " The number of votes JDU got, is less than our victory margin. People of Bihar are continuing to avenge the uturn taken by Nitish Kumar".

Tejashwi slammed Nitish Kumar for frequently changing sides and said that if he has any moral conscience left, he should immediately resign from the post of CM.  He also said Bihar CM distributed swords during Ram Navami, now he is getting reward from it, in an ironical comment.

RJD candidate Shahnawaz Alam defeated JD(U) candidate Murshid Alam by over 41 thousand votes in the Jokihat byopoll.  While Shahnawaz Alam of RJD so far got 76,002 votes, Murshid Alam of JD(U) polled 37913 votes. The resignation of JD(U) MLA Sarfaraz Alam, who quit the party earlier this year and got elected on an RJD ticket to the Lok Sabha from Araria, a seat held by his late father Mohammad Taslimuddin, necessitated the by-election.
