Justice Bhattacharya sworn in as acting CJ of Gujarat High Court

The oath ceremony took place in the courtroom of the chief justice. Justice Bhattacharya was administered oath of office by Justice AL Dave, former acting chief justice of HC whom Justice Bhattacharya replaces.

Justice Bhaskar Bhattacharya, one of the senior-most judges of Kolkata HC , was sworn in on Tuesday as the acting chief justice of the Gujarat HC. The oath ceremony took place in the courtroom of the chief justice. Justice Bhattacharya was administered oath of office by Justice AL Dave, former acting chief justice of HC whom Justice Bhattacharya replaces. Gujarat governor Dr Kamla had authorized Justice Dave by letter to administer Justice Bhattacharya the oath of office. Justice Bhattacharya started his career as an advocate in March 14, 1975. Born in 1952, the  science graduate did his bachelor’s in Law from Kolkata. He was designated as senior advocate of Kolkata HC on December 19, 1994. After three years, he was appointed a permanent judge of Kolkata high court.
