Even while on the run from police, the don wants to make most of Shravan biz.

Mahendra Patel aka Mukhi, absconding after the raid on his gambling den at Sudama Resort, might be down, but he’s definitely not out. It is learnt from sources that Mukhi has shifted base from Ahmedabad and started a new gambling den inside a farm house near Nadiad.

Sources say the holy month of Shravan is when gambling den owners book maximum profits, and Mukhi didn’t want to lose out on the opportunity, so what if he’s wanted by the police. Hence, he opened a gambling den near Dabhan crossroads on Anand-Vadodara highway.

Mukhi and Dinesh Kalgi had a thriving gambling business going at Sudama Resort in Ellisbridge in partnership until a recent police crackdown put an end to their illegal activities. While Kalgi, who was also on the run, has surrendered before the police, Mukhi is still absconding.

Sources say Mukhi inaugurated his new gambling den on Friday. It is said to be situated inside a farm house behind Rajasthan hotel on NH-8, just before Nadiad. According to the sources, the farm house will function as his gambling den for the current season of Shravan.

“The farm house is owned by one Chakabhai, and Mukhi was present during the inauguration ceremony, which saw the presence of many other prominent persons and gamblers,” said the source, adding Mukhi has handed over operations to his partner,  Ketul.
