During his campaign in the nation's capital, Kanhaiya Kumar, the Congress candidate for Lok Sabha from North East Delhi, was subjected to a horrifying event where he was thrashed by a few people who approached him under the pretext of garlanding him.

Chhaya Sharma, an AAP councillor, reported the incident to the police. The police said that at 6:53 p.m. on Friday, they received a call regarding the event. Sharma filed a complaint alleging that the attackers mistreated and threatened her when she tried to interveneDuring the campaign, Kumar was seen being attacked by unidentified persons outside the Aam Aadmi Party office in the New Usmanpur region, according to a video posted on PTI's X handle.

After the garlanding, some people allegedly tried to attack Kanhaiya Kumar by throwing ink at him. An investigation has been launched by the police.

In a statement, Kanhaiya Kumar claimed that Manoj Tiwari, his opponent for the seat, was behind the attack. According to PTI, Kumar claimed that Tiwari, the sitting member of parliament, is worried about his increasing popularity and has therefore sent individuals to attack him.
