The widow of a Kargil war martyr and their 10-year-old son were among three persons killed this morning when a mini-bus collided with a passenger train at an unmanned railway crossing in Punjab's Jalandhar district.
"The collision between Howrah-bound Jammu-Himgiri Express train and the mini bus took place at an unmanned railway crossing at Bhogpur Cholang railway division on Jalandhar-Pathankot railway track," railway police said.
Jarnail Singh's widow Baljeet Kaur and their son Gurpreet died in the accident, said the medical superintendent of the civil hospital in Jalandhar.
Bus driver Kuldeep Singh died on the spot, while its conductor has been admitted to a private hospital in serious condition.
