Karti Chidambaram files nominations; declares Rs 59.66 crore assets

Karti P Chidambaram, son of Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram, who is making his electoral debut, declared assets on Saturday to the extent of Rs 59.66 crore while filing nomination papers for Sivaganga Lok Sabha seat.

According to the details furnished by Karti in the affidavit, along with his nomination papers, he owns Rs 59,66,85,048 assets.

He has cash in hand of Rs 6,44,965 while his wife Srinidhi, a doctor, has Rs 52,310. The couples' minor daughter Aditi Nalini Chidambaram has Rs 2,01,482, the affidavit said.

Karti, by means of movable assets, including shares, bonds and fixed deposits in bank accounts, has Rs 25,54,84,233 which includes details in his name Rs 17,49,10,289, Srinidhi Rs 3,62,07,910 and Aditi Rs 4,43,66,034.

On immovable assets, Karti's family has a whopping 100 acre land in Coorg, Karnataka, a residential property in Gurgaon measuring 6,400 sq ft, wife Srinidhi 1,350 sq ft property in Poes Garden, Chennai, and Aditi 2,441 square ft land in Chennai taking the total details of immovable assets to Rs 34,12,00,815.

Interestingly Karti does not have any liability but his wife Srinidhi has liabilities of Rs 6,11,87,423.

Karti is trying his political fortunes in Sivaganga after his father opted out of contest to pave way for youngsters.
