Karunanidhi greets Rahul, welcomes changes in Congress

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi on Tuesday congratulated Rahul Gandhi on his becoming the General Secretary of Congress.

CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi on Tuesday congratulated Rahul Gandhi on his becoming the General Secretary of Congress.
    
In a letter to Rahul, he said his appointment showed that the party was always ready to share responsibilities with the younger generation.
    
"You are from a family which is very much part of our freedom struggle and involved in shaping up the destiny of India. This historic background will stand you in good stead", he said.
    
He wished that Rahul attained still higher position to work more effectively for the cause of the country.
    
The DMK leader also lauded Congress president Sonia Gandhi for her 'timely decisions' which helps the growth of the party.
    
In a letter to Sonia, he said the changes effected in the Congress party and entrusting higher responsibilities with the younger generation was really a welcome development.
    
"You have chosen the appropriate talents for the party's posts. I am quite sure that the incumbents chosen will prove their mettle in enhancing the image of the party", he said.
