Kashmir needs a "political solution and only developmental agenda" would not suffice the same, a state minister has said.

"Kashmir needs a political solution and the parties involved should also acknowledge the fact that only developmental agenda would not suffice the same," state minister for rural development Ali Mohammad Sagar said yesterday at a gathering in Kupwara district in Kashmir.

"Certain vested interests are fomenting trouble for furthering their political agenda and people should help the government to bring peace in the valley," he said.

The minister said the government is abreast with the current situation in the valley.

"In this regard, meetings have been held with the prominent citizens at different district headquarters," Sagar said, adding that "sometimes untoward incidents tend to overdo the hard work and efforts of the government."
