The small Kashmiri pandit community in the US have decided to establish their first cultural centre to provide a platform to showcase the richness of Kashmir's Hindu heritage.

The decision in this regard was taken at the recently concluded Third Annual camp of Kashmiri pandits in San Bernardino Mountains in Southern California, which was attended by Kashmiri pandits from all across the US.

A press release issued by the organisers said "Different teams were set up at the camp to establishment this dream project of having the first cultural center of Kashmiri pandits."

"The center will set the tone for future generations. It will be matter of pride and heritage and a place that all Kashmiri Hindus will be able to connect emotionally. It will represent the symbol of hope and reminder of where we came from and connect with our roots," it said.

"For all the Kashmiri Hindus in the USA and in other parts of world, it will provide a window to the beautiful valley and through this glorious view, create a stark contrast as a reminder of their painful exodus from Kashmir," the statement said.

"It will provide an opportunity to the world to learn and experience the culture of Kashmir and Kashmiri pandits, with its spiritual gurus, soulful poetry and music, Kashmir Shaivism, arts, history and the humanities. The centre will be a great community hub that will unite, serve and celebrate being Kashmiri Hindu," it said.
