Invention is the mother of necessity, they say, and Kerala’s Kevin Jacob has proved this to be true by designing an innovative mic and speaker mask. A student of B.tech first year from Thrissur, Kerala designed this mask which will enhance the audibility of the speaker of the mask, without compromising on the protection of the user.
The idea boomed in his mind as a result of people taking off their masks in order to talk and be more audible. This isn’t a feasible option during the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic and could put lives at risk.
As both his parents are doctors and seeing them struggle while talking to their patients since the beginning of the pandemic pushed him to find a solution.
In a conversation with ANI, Kevin said, “My parents found it difficult to communicate clearly via layers of masks & face shields. Seeing them, this idea struck me. I have made over 50 such devices that are being used by doctors across South India.”
Kerala reported 25,820 fresh Covid-19 cases on Sunday, taking the total caseload to 23,17,911, while 188 deaths pushed the numbers to 7,358. Malappuram recorded the highest number of 3,943 cases, followed by Ernakulam with 2,771 and Palakkad 1,805, a health department release said.
