KH Muniyappa expresses concern over Naxalite attack on trains

Muniyappa, who is on a day-long visit to Lucknow, inspected Charbagh railway station, before leaving for Amethi and Rae Bareli where he will visit the rail coach factory at Lalganj.

Uttar Pradesh minister of state for railways KH Muniyappa today expressed concern over Naxalite attack on trains and said the ministry has taken up the issue with the Centre.
    
"We are concerned over Naxal attacks on trains and have taken up the issue with the Union Home Ministry. We had two- three rounds discussions over this...and are trying to sort out the issue," Muniyappa told reporters here.
    
Railway minister Mamta Banerjee had a detailed discussion on the issue with the Centre and even home minister P Chidambaram had discussed the issue with the railway officers, he said.

Muniyappa, who is on a day-long visit to the city, inspected Charbagh railway station, before leaving for Amethi and Rae Bareli where he will visit the rail coach factory at Lalganj.
    
The minister said the railway board had sanctioned Rs16 crore for upgrading the Charbagh railway station in Lucknow.
    
"We want to develop the railway station as per the international standards and the project has already been launched," he said.

The Railway Board had sanctioned another Rs 25 crore for yard remodelling project, Muniyappa said.
