According to CNN-IBN, arrested Khalistani terrorist Jagtar Singh Tara who was convicted for the killing of former Punjab CM Beant Singh, has revealed extensive plans to carry out targeted killings and weapon supply drops in Punjab.

While on the run, Tara was apparently in touch with Kashmiri terrorists too according to his interrogation report. Tara also revealed that terror promoters based in Spain and Germany attempted to carry out terrorist activities in Punjab by collaborating with him.

Tara along with his allies in Germany and Spain had planned to use paragliders to transport arms and ammunition from Pakistan to India. The paragliders would drop arms and ammunition at the predetermined spot from where Punjab terrorists would them pick them.

CNN-IBN report also claims that Tara met Kashmiri terrorist Asdullah in Lahore. The meeting took place at the residence of International Sikh Youth Federation chief Lakhbir Singh Rode. Asdullah's group wanted to push consignments of weapons and RDX from Jammu, which Tara opposed.

Indian security agencies feel that large scale terror activities are not possible in Punjab as there is no popular support for it.

But terror groups can indulge in sporadic activities, to remind the government of a visible moment and to keep their finances alive.

Tara was extradited from Bangkok and brought to the country on January 16, 2015 by a team of Punjab Police. He was arrested in a joint operation of central agencies and Thailand police.

Tara, Jagtar Singh Hawara, Paramjit Singh Bheora with another murder convict, Devi Singh, had made a sensational escape from Burail jail in January 2004 by digging a 104-foot-long tunnel.
