Lt Governor of Puducherry Kiran Bedi, faced an embarrassment on Friday, after posting a video of an old woman, mistaking her for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 97-year-old Mother, Hiraben. Soon after twitterati pointed out her faux pas, she realised that the woman in the video was not PM Narendra Modi's mother.

She later admitted her mistake saying, "Am informed it's mistaken identity. But salute to the mother with so much vigour. I hope I can be like her if/when I am 96!"

The 50-second video shows an old and frail but energetic elderly woman in a white sari dancing inside a room to the popular "Indhana Vinvaa Gayi Thi More Saiyan".

"Spirit of Deepavali at tender age of 97. She's mother of @narendramodi (Hiraben Modi -1920) celebrating Diwali at her own home????@SadhguruJV," read the caption accompanying the video.

Bedi's tweet has been shared 3,500 times and has been liked by 9,900 people.

The Puducherry LG also tagged PM Modi and spiritual guru Sadhguru Vasudev of the Isha Foundation in her tweet, neither of whom responded.

She thanked Sadhguru for sharing the video. After all of that, she realised the woman in the video was, after all, not the Prime Minister's mother.

While not much is known about the real identity or age of the woman in the video, the video itself has existed since September on YouTube. It is believed that the song playing in the background was one associated with the festival of Navaratri and not Diwali. The video was uploaded on YouTube with the title 'Old woman doing garba dance'.
