Sanjoy Roy, the prime accused in the rape and murder of a doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, has been sent to 14-day judicial custody. The Sealdah Civil and Criminal Court ordered his custody under heavy security arrangements.
In a related development, a special court in Kolkata granted permission to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to conduct a polygraph test on Roy. Although such tests are not accepted as evidence in court, they are often used to assist investigators in their inquiries, according to a report by India Today.
Roy was arrested by the Kolkata Police a day after the incident was reported on August 9. The case was then transferred to the CBI for further investigation.
On Thursday, the CBI carried out a psychoanalytic profiling of Roy. The profiling revealed disturbing details about his personality, with a CBI officer describing him as a “pervert and severely addicted to pornography.”
The officer further explained that Roy exhibited an "animal-like instinct" and showed no remorse during interrogation for the brutal crime committed within the state-run medical college.
The CBI officer also mentioned that Roy narrated every detail of the crime without any sign of guilt or hesitation, a fact that has contributed to the growing outrage across the country.
