The West Bengal State Election Commission is yet to take any decision on the demands of repoll by a number of opposition parties in several polling booths of the Kolkata Municipal Corporation.

"We have received some complaints from different political parties, which had been forwarded to the District Municipal Election Officer (DMEO) for review. After I receive report from the DMEO by tomorrow, a decision will be taken if repoll could be given to any polling booth," state Election Commissioner S R Upadhyay said. Speaking about his overall observation on yesterday's civic poll to the 144-Ward KMC, Upadhyay said, "There was no major incident of violence. However, I received several complaints from different political parties which are under scrutiny."

Regarding the incident of firing on a sub-inspector in North Kolkata, Upadhyay said "I have not received any complaint on that incident. I have seen it in media reports. We are collecting newspaper cuttings for reviewing the incident." "However, I agree some incidents had taken place and in those cases particularly there was a lack of appropriate atmosphere," Upadhyay said.
