Kolkata's Saugata Chowdhury tops ICSE with 99.20%

Hours after the results were announced, Chowdhury said that the feeling of topping the results had not sunk in. “I am still in a state of shock. The feeling of being a topper has not sunk in as yet,” said Chowdhury.

His mother was watching the news and suddenly saw that his name was being flashed on television screens, he said. “The credit of my achievement goes to my mother. She used to stay awake the entire night, sitting next to me. I had expected that I would get 96-97% but did not imagine this.”  

Saugata plans to pursue a career in Physics.

Besides Chowdhury, there were two other joint toppers - Ananya Harshad Patwardhan from Chatrabhuj Narsee Memorial School, Mumbai and Tezan Tapan Sahu from St Mary’s ICSE school, Navi Mumbai - all scoring 99.20%.

For ICSE, the pass percentage of girls stood at 98.54% and for boys it stood at 97.86%. In ISC, too, this figure stands at 97.24% for girls, and for boys it stood at 94.29%.
