Union Labour Minister Santosh Gangwar's wife and six other family members tested positive for COVID-19 on Saturday, October 31.

The 71-year-old labour minister immediately underwent a COVID-19 test and his report came out negative.

According to Gangwar, the BJP parliamentarian from Bareilly in Uttar Pradesh, his family members had recently gone to Delhi where they contracted the infection.

All infected members have been admitted to the ESI Hospital in Faridabad, Haryana.

According to reports the cook of the family is also ill and has been admitted o hospital as a precautionary measure.

Meanwhile, 48,268 fresh coronavirus cases were recorded in the country taking the tally to 81,37,119. 

According to the available government data, 551 new deaths were reported on Friday which puts the toll at 1,21,641.

In the last 24 hours, India has reported 5,82,649 active Covid-19 cases which is a drop of 11,737 cases. The total recovery is 74,32,829 with 59,454 new discharges in a day.
