Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee president Arjun Modhwadia on Sunday lambasted the state government for its callous attitude towards land survey work in the state.

He was speaking at a function organised to celebrate the National Survey Day on April 10 and also inaugurated Gujarat Land
Survey Association's website at the function held on
Sunday.

Modhwadia alleged that several important projects were moving at the tardy pace because of lack of adequate surveyors.
"Rs1,800 crore worth of projects funded by the Centre are moving at a snail's pace because we don't have adequate surveyors. No move is being appointed to address this shortage. In fact, even private surveyors are in short supply," Modhwadia alleged.

He further that rules were being circumvented for some projects.
"For several projects it is mandatory that the owner of the land be informed before a survey is carried out. But the government has gone out and carried surveys without even telling the owners of the land. The rules also mandate that a re-survey be carried out in case of over 5% errors.

However, here there are more than 15% errors but nothing is being done," he Modhwadia.

General secretary of the association, Haresh Kothari talked about the history of how survey came to be done and the new developments happening in the field. A directory about the land survey was also released on the occasion.
