Advocates in Muzaffarnagar and adjoining districts today stayed away from courts in protest against the batoncharge on lawyers inside a court premises in Kanpur last week.
The boycott call was given by Uttar Pradesh Bar Council, president of district bar association Promode Tyagi said here.
At least 24 people were injured and over 100 vehicles damaged in the April 7 clash when some lawyers allegedly misbehaved with a police inspector who had come from Kannauj in connection with a case.
