Normal life was disrupted in the wake of a bandh called by lawyers, protesting for the cancellation of judicial officers examinations held for the post of additional district judges (ADJ).
Barring essential services like public transportation and medical-services, most markets, school and colleges remained closed, and public places bore a deserted look, the police said.
The state capital was worst hit as advocates forced shopkeepers to shut their shops.
"So far the bandh is peaceful and no untoward incident occurred anywhere in Jaipur range", the IGP BL Soni told PTI.
Barring Barmer, Jaisalmer and Dholpur districts, the partial bandh was observed in the rest of the state.
The Rajasthan high court announced a holiday today, which coincided with the Babaramdeo fair holiday celebrated in Jaisalmer district.
About 70,000 lawyers were on strike for 21 days seeking cancellation of the ongoing examination process for the recruitment of 36 judicial officers in the state.
