Final year students of biomedical engineering of LDCE, Chintak Dholakia (founder), Sumit Sathwara (CEO marketing and co-founder) and Pratik Gandhi (CEO, job acquisition and co-founder) have thought it wise to create an exclusive job portal for biomedical engineering students across India to help them secure jobs above the relatively low amounts they are often offered.
"We will now be entering the corporate world and all of us have been facing problems with regards to hunting for the right salary or even the right job. This is when we set up this portal last year. We went officially online only six months back. Nearly 50% of our seniors don't have jobs or the right paying job", Dholakia explained.
Since the launch of their website, BMEjobs.co.in last year, the team during the initial three months faced issues about which companies to place their job vacancies on the portal. Hence, they spread the news by word of mouth and advertisement on social networking websites. Today, they have around 60 jobs posted on their portal for free. Gandhi said, "These 60 jobs on our portal have offered students with at least Rs15,000 as their starting salary, as compared to Rs3000-Rs4000 which we often received from companies and campus recruitments. Although we give first preference to companies that offer above Rs10,000 salaries, a good company with lesser pay is also welcome."
Currently, the portal showcases 40% jobs up on offer from hospitals, 5% jobs up on offer as researchers and patent analysts and the remaining 55% jobs are from manufacturing units. However, job offers as researchers or analysts is the highest paid with Rs25,000 and onwards per month.
In addition, for the next four years, first year students have been appointed who are working voluntarily to manage this portal. First year biomedical students, Aesha Shah - Site Manager (Job Acquisition), Dhruvan Shah - Site Manager (Marketing) and Bindi Patel - Site Manager (Website Management) are responsible to check inflow of jobs.
